ESPN has updated its bowl projections for all of college football after an eventful Week 4.

Notre Dame’s narrow loss to Ohio State was one of the biggest results of the weekend. The Fighting Irish are now 4-1 this season and will need some help to get back into the College Football Playoff discussion.

ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach updated their postseason expectations for the Irish this week.

Schlabach is projecting Notre Dame to face Oregon in the Cotton Bowl.

Notre Dame and Oregon have only met once before — back in 1976. The Fighting Irish won that game 41-0 against an Oregon program that had not yet blossomed into what it is today. Notre Dame last played in the Cotton Bowl in 2018.

Bonagura is predicting a less-glamorous postseason for the Fighting Irish — a trip to the Pop-Tarts Bowl to face Central Florida. The Pop-Tarts Bowl, formerly known was the Cheez-It Bowl, had Notre Dame back in 2019 when it was known as the Camping World Bowl.

Notre Dame UCF have never met in football.

Notre Dame still has an opportunity to get back into the race for a CFP berth or a New Year’s Six bowl. The Fighting Irish will look to get back on track this weekend against Duke.
