ESPN has updated its bowl projections for all of college football after Week 6.

Notre Dame is coming off of a tough loss to Louisville last week. The Fighting Irish are now 5-2 this season and are almost certainly out of the College Football Playoff picture in 2023.

Still, there’s plenty for Notre Dame to fight for this season — beginning this weekend against USC. Entering Week 7, ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach have updated their bowl projections for the Irish.

Bonagura projects Notre Dame to face Florida in the Gator Bowl. This would be Notre Dame’s second consecutive appearance in the Gator Bowl after facing South Carolina on that stage last season. Notre Dame and Florida have met just one time prior — in the Sugar Bowl at the end of the 1991 season.

Schlabach is predicting Notre Dame will battle Oregon State in the Holiday Bowl. This would be Notre Dame’s first-ever appearance in the Holiday Bowl. The Fighting Irish are 0-2 all-time against Oregon State, with the most recent meeting coming back in 2004.

Notre Dame still has time to get back into the mix for a New Year’s Six bowl game, but the Irish probably can’t afford another loss if they hope to get there this season.

Marcus Freeman’s squad will play USC in South Bend on Saturday night.
