ESPN updates bowl projections for Notre Dame following Week 13

ESPN has updated its bowl projections for Notre Dame after the Fighting Irish’s Week 13 loss to USC.

ESPN college football writer Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura revised their weekly bowl projections for Notre Dame. Schlabach and Bonagura were in agreement on Notre Dame facing o

ff against South Carolina in the Gator Bowl on Dec. 30.

Notre Dame had a chance at reaching a New Year’s Six bowl, but a 38-27 road loss to USC put a stop to that. To play in a premier bowl game, Notre Dame needed to pull off the upset over USC.

This would be Notre Dame’s fourth appearance in the Gator Bowl. The Irish are 1-2 all-time in that bowl, with their lone win coming in 1976.

In Week 13, Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne passed for 3 touchdowns a

nd 1 interception. Running back Logan Diggs added 34 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown. On defense, Notre Dame struggled to slow down USC quarterback Caleb Williams. For USC, Williams passed for 232 yards and 1 touchdown. Williams dominated Notre Dame on the ground with 35 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.

The loss snapped Notre Dame’s 4-game winning streak over USC. Notre Dame moved to 8-4 on the season and will miss out on a 10-win season.

Notre Dame will have to wait until Sunday to find out its bowl game future.
