ESPN's FPI predicts every game on Notre Dame's 2022 schedule
ESPN’s Football Power Index has released its projections for every Notre Dame game of the 2022 season.
The model is predicting the Irish to win 9 games this season. It gives Notre Dame a 1.2% chance to go 12-0 and a 18.8% chance to make the College Football Playoff.
FPI does think Notre Dame getting to bowl eligibility is a virtual lock — it gives the Irish a 99.7% chance of winning at least 6 games.
Here’s how FPI views Notre Dame’s chance of winning each game on its 2022 schedule:
- Sept. 3: at Ohio State — 16.7%
- Sept. 10: vs. Marshall — 90.8%
- Sept. 17: vs. Cal — 94.1%
- Sept. 24: at North Carolina — 56.7%
- Oct. 8: vs. BYU — 81.6%
- Oct. 15: vs. Stanford — 92.8%
- Oct. 22: vs. UNLV — 98.3%
- Oct. 29: at Syracuse — 83.4%
- Nov. 5: vs. Clemson — 40%
- Nov. 12: vs. Navy — 95.7%
- Nov. 19: vs. Boston College — 91.5%
- Nov. 26: at USC — 66.4%
FPI gives Notre Dame at least a 80% chance to win 8 of the 12 games on its schedule. The Irish are only underdogs in 2 contests — at Ohio State on Sept. 3 and vs. Clemson on Nov. 5.
Notre Dame has won 10+ games in each of the last 5 seasons.
Kickoff vs. the Buckeyes on Sept. 3 is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET.
