ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome in Notre Dame-BYU game

Notre Dame is the favorite in its matchup against BYU in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Not only are the Irish favored on the betting line, but ESPN’s Football Power Index is also p

rojecting a relatively comfortable win for Notre Dame.

FPI is giving Notre Dame a 69.9% chance to defeat the Cougars. The Fighting Irish are looking for their third straight win after starting the season 0-2.

Notre Dame’s defense has proven itself as one of the top units in the country. However, the Irish’s offense has struggled with injuries to key players like quarterback Tyler Buchner and receiver Avery D

avis.

The offense did appear to gain some momentum in Notre Dame’s win over BYU back in Week 4. Whether or not Notre Dame can build on that performance could determine the outcome in this game.

Notre Dame is 4-2 all-time in this series. However, that does not include a pair of wins from Notre Dame that were later vacated.

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
