Notre Dame got into the win column on Saturday against Cal.

The Fighting Irish are now 1-2 on the season with plenty to play for moving forward. Notre Dame still has several marquee games remaining on its schedule and could end up fighting for a New Year’s 6 bowl bid if it is able to win out.

However, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the chances of that are relatively slim. FPI gives Notre Dame just a 0.7% chance to win the remaining 9 games on its schedule.

While that is a small percentage outcome, FPI is optimistic about Notre Dame’s likelihood of reaching a bowl game. It gives the Irish a 86.4% chance to get to 6 wins this season.

Overall, FPI is projecting Notre Dame to finish the regular season with 6.8 wins. It ranks Notre Dame at No. 25 nationally entering the Week 4 slate.

Notre Dame still has difficult games remaining vs. North Carolina, Clemson, BYU and USC on its schedule.

The Irish will travel to Chapel Hill to take on a 3-0 Tar Heels team in Week 4. Notre Dame is 20-1 all-time against North Carolina.
