ESPN’s Heather Dinich reported on Marcus Freeman’s coaching search and where things stand as of Monday.

According to Dinich, sources have indicated Freeman is still in the process of vetting names and conducting phone interviews with candidates for the OC vacancy. Freeman is expected to have candidates on campus by mid to the later portions of the week for interviews.

Tommy Rees left the Irish recently to take over as the new OC for Nick Saban at Alabama. The former Notre Dame quarterback returned to his alma mater in 2017 as the QBs coach and was elevated to OC for 2020-22.

While Dinich did not mention any candidates by name on Monday, she previously reported Notre Dame TEs coach Gerad Parker as an internal candidate that could fill the post for the Irish. Parker has spent time as an OC and as a passing game coordinator prior to coming to Notre Dame.
