Former Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne is headed west.

Pyne committed to play for Arizona State this season. Here’s his announcement:

Pyne started 10 games for Notre Dame this season, but decided to enter the transfer portal earlier this month. The Fighting Irish are believed to be pursuing a quarterback in the portal this offseason.

Pyne led Notre Dame to an 8-2 record over his 10 games as the starter. He completed 64.6% of his passes for 2,021 yards, 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He averaged 8.0 yards per attempt.

He will replace a tandem of passers (Trenton Bourguet and Emory Jones) at Arizona State. Bourguet and Jones and combined for 18 touchdowns and 9 interceptions this season. The Sun Devils went 3-9 on the year.

Notre Dame is still looking for a quarterback in the portal. For the bowl game, both Tyler Buchner and true freshman Steve Angeli are in contention to start the game.

Notre Dame will face South Carolina in the Gator Bowl later this month.
