Former UNC basketball players lose bet, wear Notre Dame shirts to NBA practice

When Notre Dame defeated North Carolina in Chapel Hill last weekend, it apparently had an impact on the Dallas Mavericks’ locker room dynamics.

On Wednesday, two former North Carolina players — Reggie Bullock and Theo Pinson — showed up to practice donning Notre Dame green.

Here’s a look:

The bet was seemingly with Mavericks assistant coach Sean Sweeney, who is a noted Notre Dame football fan. Here’s a clip of Pinson trying to explain the situation:

Coach Marcus Freeman, who visited the Mavs and Sweeney earlier this offseason, acknowledged the situation on Thursday morning:

Notre Dame is now 2-2 on the season and has seemingly rebounded from a pair of tough losses to start the year. Quarterback Drew Pyne had his best start of the year vs. UNC, throwing for 3 touchdowns in the win.

The Fighting Irish are off in Week 5 but will face BYU in a neutral site game in Las Vegas in Week 6.
