Isaiah Foskey is climbing up Notre Dame’s all-time sack leaderboard

Isaiah Foskey had a terrific game in Notre Dame’s 44-21 victory vs. UNLV. The defensive lineman racked up 3 sacks and also blocked 2 punts that resulted in 10 points for Notre Dame.

The impressive outing now has Foskey climbing the ranks amongst the greatest defenders in program history.

Foskey is now up to 21.5 sacks for his career, which is tied for third in program history. Foskey was the first Notre Dame player with 3 sacks in a game since Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoa in 2019 vs. Iowa State.

Justin Tuck currently holds the all-time Notre Dame sack record with 24.5.

After UNLV trimmed the deficit to 20-7, Foskey blocked a punt from Marshall Nichols and linebacker Jordan Botelho scooped up the ball at the UNLV 20-yard line. Drew Pyne then connected on a 20-yard TD pass to Mike Mayer a couple plays after.

After UNLV had a three-and-out, Foskey blocked another punt by Houston Griffith that was fielded at the UNLV 14-yard line. That set up Notre Dame to score on a 27-yard field goal from Blake Grupe.

Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman was extremely proud of Foskey and the special teams unit.

“We just got home. It wasn’t that they had something particular that we’re going to exploit. Every week we feel like we can take advantage of our punt team,” Freeman said via The AP

. “Those are game-changers.”
