Jack Swarbrick is a major supporter of new offensive coordinator Gerad Parker.

Swarbrick commented on the process of replacing Tommy Rees on Thursday afternoon. Although Notre Dame also spoke with candidates like Utah’s Andy Ludwig and Kansas State’s Collin Klein, Swarbrick said he was pleased with the result.

“He ran a great process,” Swarbrick said. “He screened 3 candidates and I love where we wound up. That’s not to say the other 2 weren’t highly qualified and would not have been good fits at Notre Dame. That’s not the case.

“That this took us to coach Parker, is for many of us, a really great result. He understands the program. It results in us being able to move forward with the same terminology, which is really big.”

Here’s video of his comments:

Parker has offensive coordinator experience from his time at West Virginia. He will now have the opportunity to lead Notre Dame’s offense with Sam Hartman at quarterback.

Parker previously served as Notre Dame’s tight ends coach. He joined the program after the 2021 season.
