Joe Alt tabbed as safest prospect in 2024 NFL Draft by ESPN analyst

Joe Alt is primed to be one of the top players selected in this year’s draft class.

The 2024 NFL Draft process is heating up coming out of the Reese’s Senior Bowl. As we head toward the NFL Combine, ESPN’s Matt Miller appeared on “The Matt Barrie Show” to discuss several key aspects of the draft.

One of the questions posed by Barrie included the safest search for a franchise cornerstone. While teams are undoubtedly bound to reach for players based on potential (some of which will ultimately be busts), Miller has one player as his safest pick in the draft.

That distinction belongs to Alt, Notre Dame’s star left tackle who has been a 3-year starter for the Fighting Irish. The offensive lineman is all but anchored into the first round and stands a chance of being the first offensive lineman selected.

“I’ll take Joe Alt. I’m going to play it safe, I’ll take Joe Alt, the left tackle from Notre Dame. Left tackles don’t really bust that much,” said Miller. “I feel very safe there. Started 3 years at Notre Dame, great athleticism, really good run blocker. Pass protection is flawless, I think he had 1 sack in the last two years. If I have to put all those chips on the table, I feel very very safe here.”

As things currently stand, DraftKings

gives Alt the fourth-highest odds to be the first non-quarterback selected in the draft. Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. currently leads those odds with Florida State’s Jared Verse also in the mix.
