Joel Klatt breaks down Notre Dame vs. USC matchup, gives winner pick
Joel Klatt broke down a big matchup between Notre Dame and USC on Thursday, giving his prediction and what each team needs to do to find success.
For Notre Dame, Klatt believes the Irish will have to control the run game. If they can have success on the ground, it should lead to success overall.
“This game is 100% about Notre Dame’s run game,” Klatt said. “If they can control the game on the ground, then they’ll win. If they can’t and Hartman has to drop back and throw the ball, then the pass rush gets involved, it’s one of the best pass rushes in the country.”
Ultimately, Klatt favors Notre Dame in this one. The game will be played in South Bend in less-than-ideal conditions, which Klatt believes favors the Irish.
“This is a game they have to win. I think Notre Dame wins this game,” Klatt said. “There’s rain and wind in the forecast, that lends itself to Notre Dame. You want to slow things down, be methodical, run the ball, that’s what they’re going to have to do.”
The game between Notre Dame and USC kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday.
