Kirk Herbstreit gives shoutout to Marcus Freeman for Duke win
Kirk Herbstreit included Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman amongst his top-performing coaches of the week on Monday.
Freeman and the Fighting Irish had a bounce-back week as they earned a big win over Duke in Durham on Saturday night. It was an important victory, especially given the Irish’s heartbreaking loss to Ohio State the week before.
Freeman checks in at No. 3 on Herbstreit’s list for Week 5. Ole Miss offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. and Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen were the only coaches ranked ahead of Freeman this week.
Here’s the full list:

Notre Dame needed a last-minute touchdown to secure a win over Duke on Saturday night. Running back Audric Estime did the honors, just 2 plays after quarterback Sam Hartman picked up a 4th and 16 with a scramble.
Notre Dame will be looking to move to 6-1 this weekend against Louisville.
