Logan Diggs, Notre Dame RB, comments on Tommy Rees’ departure

Logan Diggs is supportive of Tommy Rees’ decision to leave Notre Dame for the offensive coordinator role at Alabama.

Diggs made this statement soon after Rees’ choice to leave for the Crimson Tide became public:

Diggs just finished his 2nd season in South Bend. He became a key part of Notre Dame’s offense this year, rushing for 822 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Looking ahead to next season, Diggs figures to be one of the most important offensive weapons on Notre Dame’s roster. He’s currently expected to split carries with Audric Estime in the backfield, but he could also become a l

arger part of the passing game.

It’s unclear what direction Notre Dame will go with regards to replacing Rees as offensive coordinator. He’s been the Irish’s primary play-caller on offense since 2020. Prior to being promoted to OC, he was Notre Dame’s QB coach from 2017-19.

Notre Dame finished the 2022 season with a 9-4 record and won 9 of its final 11 games to end the year.
