Marcus Freeman announces season-ending injury for key contributor

Notre Dame tight end Kevin Bauman will miss the remainder of the 2022 season with a torn ACL.

Coach Marcus Freeman announced that news after Notre Dame’s win over North Carolina on Saturday.

He also gave injury updates on Blake Fisher and DJ Brown:

Bauman was on Notre Dame’s depth chart as a backup tight end to Michael Mayer. He played in all 3 of Notre Dame’s games prior to today and had made 3 catches for 44 yards.

Bauman was just starting to take on a bigger role in the offense when t

he injury occurred. He’s likely to be replaced on the depth chart by freshman Eli Raridon.

Of course, Mayer will continue to be Notre Dame’s primary option at tight end. He made 7 catches for 88 yards and 1 touchdown in the win over the Tar Heels.

Notre Dame is off in Week 5 but will have a tough test vs. BYU on Oct. 8.
