Marcus Freeman broke an all-time Notre Dame record in win over Oregon State
Marcus Freeman broke an all-time program record when Notre Dame defeated Oregon State on Friday afternoon in the Sun Bowl.
The victory over the No. 21 Beavers is Notre Dame’s 7th ranked win since Freeman was named head coach ahead of the 2022 season. That breaks a tie with former Notre Dame head coach Terry Brennan for the most ranked wins by a Fighting Irish coach in the first two years of their tenure.
Brennan secured six ranked wins in 1954 and 1955:

Notre Dame picked up ranked wins over Duke, USC and Oregon State this season. Last year, the Fighting Irish earned top-25 wins over BYU, Syracuse, Clemson and South Carolina.
Going into 2024, Notre Dame will likely have several more ranked opponents in its schedule. The Fighting Irish are slated to face top programs such as Texas A&M, Florida State and USC next season.
Notre Dame’s win over Oregon State also secured a 10-win season for the Irish. It’s Notre Dame’s first 10-win campaign of the Freeman era.
