Notre Dame’s win over UNLV was an important one for Marcus Freeman’s program.

The victory pushed the Irish to 4-3 on the season and helped get the team back on track after last week’s loss to Stanford.

After the win over UNLV, Freeman acknowledged the “tough week” in a passionate speech to his team.

“This was a tough week for everybody,” Freeman said. “We know that. But that’s what makes this team so close, man, is you continue to do this. Continue to stay together and believe in each other. And that’s what you’re going to have to do to continue to reach our full potential. Continue to evaluate, continue to push. Continue to trust and listen to each other, man.

“Everybody understand that? Continue to be a family, man. That’s what makes this place special. That’s what makes this team special. Continue to climb that bumpy road.”

Here’s video of Freeman’s remarks:

Notre Dame remains on track for bowl eligibility despite suffering bad losses to Marshall and Stanford. The Fighting Irish will likely be heavy favorites in matchups vs. Navy and Boston College in November.

Notre Dame will now turn its attention to Syracuse. The Orange played well this week — at least defensively — in a 27-21 loss to Clemson. The Irish will have to play well if they hope to win that game on the road.

Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
