Marcus Freeman met with reporters on Wednesday afternoon and talked through a variety of topics, including the future of Notre Dame playmaker Chris Tyree.

So far in his Notre Dame career, Tyree has only featured at running back. However, he was seen working out as a wide receiver on Wednesday.

Freeman called Tyree’s position status “to be determined” but indicated that finding a spot for him in the offense is a high priority.

“He’s a guy who has multiple skill sets,” Freeman said. “Chris Tyree is a guy we have to have on the football field.”

Last season, Tyree rushed the ball 100 times for 444 yards and 3 touchdowns. He split carries with Audric Estime and Logan Diggs, both of whom are expected back with the Irish in 2023.

Tyree has shown the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield during his career. He has 561 catches for 461 yards and 4 touchdowns during his time with the Irish.

Notre Dame’s spring game is on April 22.
