Marcus Freeman refutes idea of lack of financial support during Notre Dame’s OC search

Marcus Freeman does not have any issues with the current support from Notre Dame’s administration. He made that clear in a press conference on Monday.

While introducing new OC Gerad Parker, Freeman pushed back on the idea that a buyout held up a potential deal for Collin Klein or Andy Ludwig to become the new OC of the Irish. Klein and Ludwig hold deals with buyouts at Kansas State and Utah, respectively, and were reportedly candidates for Notre Dame before the program promoted Parker.

According to Freeman, the idea that it was a buyout that kept both assistants away from Notre Dame “is not the truth.” He went on to say the administration led by AD Jack Swarbrick is all in financially for the Irish and it is evidenced in other areas.

Swarbrick has also addressed the rumors himself, noting the idea of the Irish being unwilling to pay a buyout for an OC “is not and never was the case.”
