Marcus Freeman updates Notre Dame’s injury situation ahead of Week 2

Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman gave an update on his team’s injury situation at his weekly press conference on Monday.

Starting left guard Jarrett Patterson is still “questionable,” per Freeman. Patterson was a game-time decision vs. the Buckeyes and warmed up with the team, but ultimately wasn’t able to play due to a lower body injury he suffered in fall camp.

Andrew Kristofic got the start at left guard in place of Patterson vs. the Buckeyes.

“We’ll reevaluate him today and this week and I would still think he’s questionable,” Freeman told reporters on Monday, via 247Sports

. “But let’s see. If he’s ready to go, we’re gonna play him this week.”

Freeman mentioned a minor ankle injury for quarterback Tyler Buchner on Saturday night, but that appears to be resolved. Buchner said he was fine after the game and Freeman confirmed that assessment on Monday.

The news is also good on cornerback Tariq Bracy, who briefly left the game against Ohio State. Freeman said he’s good to go for this week.

Notre Dame had multiple cramping issues in Columbus that it hopes will not be a factor moving forward. Freeman said linebacker Bo Bauer had to get an IV during the game and punter Jon Sot.

“But to me, the environment and the atmosphere adds on to the pressure already on you,” Freeman said, via 247Sports. “That’s what happened with that one.”

Freeman will make his home debut as Notre Dame’s head coach on Saturday vs. Marshall.
