Mike Brey clarifies future plans following 2022-23 college basketball season

Mike Brey is leaving Notre Dame at the end of the 2022-23 basketball season. However, Brey reportedly clarified what his future plans will be.

According to college hoops insider Jeff Goodman, Brey indicated Monday that he will not be retiring. “Definitely not done coaching,” said Brey, per Goodman.

In January, talk of Brey’s future came into question during a rough season for Notre Dame. Reports initially indicated that Brey was retiring from the Irish at the end of the season.

Notre Dame eventually put out a statement that Brey would be stepping away

from the program at the season’s end. Brey’s the all-time winningest coach in Irish history with over 480 wins leading the program.

Where Brey winds up remains to be seen, but looks like he will indeed be on the sidelines somewhere for the 2023-24 basketball season.
