Mike Brey, former Notre Dame HC, reportedly decides on next move

Mike Brey and Notre Dame basketball parted ways after the end of the 2023 season, one in which the Fighting Irish finished 11-22. Brey has been at the helm of the program since 2001.

Brey was a good coach for Notre Dame, but it was time for a change to be made. He saw immense success in the 2010’s and early 2000s, taking the Fighting Irish to 2 Elite 8s, a Sweet 16 and 13 total NCAAT appearances.

On Tuesday, Brey reported that he has interviewed for the vacant USF job but that he was not offered by the school. Now, he intends to take some time off from coaching and pursue a career in TV.

Notre Dame has reportedly been in contact with Penn State head coach Micah Shrewsberry for their vacant HC job, and it is believed he is mulling over staying at Penn State or taking the Fighting Irish job.
