Mike Brey received a thoughtful gift from Duke and former Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski on Tuesday ahead of his final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
With Brey set to leave Notre Dame after more than 2 decades following this season, Duke offered a gesture to celebrate his tremendous career. Krzyzewski presented Brey with a bottle of wine with the inscription, “You’re the guy for Notre Dame.”
Here’s a look at Brey and Krzyzewski.
Brey, of course, was a longtime assistant under Krzyzewski in Durham. He was on Coach K’s bench from 1987-95 before leaving to take over the head coaching job at Delaware.
After 5 seasons at Delaware, Brey took the Notre Dame job ahead of the 2000-01 campaign.
On Monday, Brey announced that he intends to continue coaching beyond the 2022-23 campaign
and that he is not retiring. However, this will be his final season in South Bend.
Duke and Notre Dame tip off at 7:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday night in Durham.
