Multiple bowls reportedly in ‘battle’ for Notre Dame

Notre Dame’s final bowl destination is still up in the air.

According to college football insider Brett McMurphy, the Gator Bowl and Holiday bowl are engaged in a “battle royale” to land Notre Dame. Those negotiations have caused a hold-up in the release of several other bowls involving the SEC and ACC.

Given Notre Dame’s stature as one of the biggest brands in college football, it’s not a surprise to see bowls trying to get the Irish into their event.

Most projections entering Sunday had Notre Dame headed to the Gator Bowl to f

ace an SEC opponent. However, the Holiday Bowl could also make sense as it has ties to the ACC.

Notre Dame went 8-4 this season had picked up multiple ranked victories along the way. Its best win was at home over Clemson, who was a CFP contender at the time.

Notre Dame should learn its official bowl destination at some point on Sunday afternoon.
