Notre Dame adds commitment from transfer kicker
Notre Dame added a kicker to its roster for the 2023 season on Tuesday evening.
The Fighting Irish picked up a commitment from South Florida transfer kicker Spencer Shrader. He was on campus this weekend on a visit to Notre Dame.
Here’s his announcement:
The success of one comes from the hard work of many… Grateful to everyone who's been a part of this journey!! GO IRISH!!!🍀🍀 pic.twitter.com/EKkVmawll7

For the second straight year, Notre Dame has added a graduate transfer kicker to its roster. Shrader replaces Blake Grupe, who made 13-of-18 kicks during his lone season in South Bend.
Like Grupe, Shrader has just one year of eligibility remaining. He is 20-of-26 on field goals over the past two seasons at South Florida. Shrader was also a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award in 2021.
Notre Dame is now free to focus on another important needs in the transfer portal. The Fighting Irish are expected to be active in the portal and have needs at positions like quarterback, receiver and on the defensive line.
Notre Dame will face South Carolina in the Gator Bowl later this month.
