Notre Dame’s top-ranked 2025 recruiting class got a big boost on Saturday. Christopher Burgess Jr. is taking his talents to South Bend.

The standout Edge prospect from Illinois announced his commitment to Notre Dame live on NBC from the All-American Bowl.

A standout of Chicago Simeon, Burgess is listed as measuring 6-4 and 240 pounds at 16 years old. On the 247Sports Composite, Burgess is rated 4-stars, the No. 5 player in the state of Illinois, No. 18 defensive lineman and No. 147 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.

Burgess has been offered by 33 schools during his recruitment. For Saturday’s commitment ceremony, he had hats on the table for Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Ohio State.
