Notre Dame has landed a commitment from Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis cornerback Mark Zackery IV.

The 5-foot-11 defensive back revealed his commitment to the Fighting Irish on Saturday, selecting Marcus Freeman’s squad over Cincinnati, Florida, and Michigan. Zackery is a 4-star out of the 2025 class and adds to what is already the best class in the country.

Zackery is rated as the No. 2 prospect from the state of Indiana, according to the 247 Composite. He’s the 15th-ranked corner in the cycle and the No. 135 overall recruit. The evaluators at 247Sports are a bit higher than the consensus on Zackery, placing him inside the national top 60.

He’s a 2-sport star at Ben Davis, also excelling on the basketball court. (Don’t tell Austin Rivers.) Last year, Zackery played in the Indiana High School Future All-Stars Basketball game, totaling 8 points and 4 assists in 14 minutes.

As a junior last fall, Zackery played both sides of the football for Ben Davis. He brought in 53 receptions for 823 yards and 8 touchdowns as a receiver on offense. On defense, he totaled 39 tackles to go with 4 interceptions, 8 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles.

According to Irish Illustrated’s Tom Loy, Zackery will “have the option” to play basketball for Notre Dame head coach Micah Shrewsberry if he wants to. He’s a pure athlete who should make Notre Dame better regardless of where he’s playing.

But Notre Dame has been putting together a class of nothing but pure talent in the 2025 cycle. Zackery is the 12th blue-chipper to publicly pledge to Notre Dame. The class is already 22-deep — by far the biggest of any school inside the Composite team rankings.
