Notre Dame pulled off the upset over Georgia Southern on Saturday night, which means the Fighting Irish have advanced to the finals of the Statesboro Regional.

They defeated the hosts 6-4 thanks in-part to a strong pitching performance and a trio of home runs.

Georgia Southern briefly took a 4-2 lead in the 6th inning, but Notre Dame responded with a huge 2-run homer from Zack Prajzner to tie the game.

Then, in the 7th, Notre Dame loaded the bases and scored 2 more runs on back-to-back hit batters. Prajzner had the game-winning RBI with 2 outs.

From there, Notre Dame shut the door. The Fighting Irish got 3.1 scoreless innings out of its bullpen to seal the victory. Matt Bedford earned the win and Jack Findlay was credited with the save.

Austin Temple started this game and pitched well. He gave up 4 runs and struck out 8 over 5.2 innings.

Notre Dame now advances to the regional final and will have 2 chances to advance to a Super Regional. Georgia Southern and Texas Tech will play on Sunday afternoon for the right to face the Irish in the final.

First pitch of Game 1 of the regional final is at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday. If necessary, the teams would meet again on Monday evening.
