Notre Dame added a massive piece to its 2025 recruiting class on Monday evening.

The Fighting Irish landed a commitment from 4-star safety Ethan Long. He picked Notre Dame over a group of finalists that includes Ohio State, Michigan, UCLA and Wisconsin.

Here’s video of his announcement:

Long is a major addition for the Irish in the class of 2025. He’s the No. 317 overall player and the No. 23 safety in the country for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 3 player from the state of Connecticut.

Notre Dame is in the midst of building an elite recruiting class in 2025 — perhaps the best of the Marcus Freeman era in South Bend. Notre Dame’s class currently ranks No. 1 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Long is the 13th prospect to commit to Notre Dame so far in the class of 2025. The class is led by 4-star quarterback Deuce Knight and 4-star safety Ivan Taylor, who are both considered top-60 prospects in this class.

Here are some highlights from Long’s junior season:
