Notre Dame picked up a commitment from 4-star cornerback Christian Gray on Monday afternoon.

This was a nice Independence Day addition for the Fighting Irish, who are now up to 19 commitments in the class of 2023.

Here’s Gray’s announcement on CBS HQ:

Gray is the No. 10 cornerback in the country for this cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 4 player from the state of Missouri.

He attends DeSmet High School in Saint Louis, Mo. Gray is listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds.

This is a big addition for the Fighting Irish and an impressive display of recruiting by Marcus Freeman and his staff. Gray took official visits to Ohio State, USC and LSU in June.

Notre Dame now has a big lead for the nation’s No. 1 overall recruiting class, per 247Sports Composite rankings. The Fighting Irish briefly fell to No. 3 in the rankings last week, but have since picked up 4 blue-chip commitments.

The Fighting Irish now have 4 defensive backs in this class. Gray joins 4-star safety Peyton Bowen, 4-star cornerback Micah Bell and 4-star safety Adon Shuler.
