Notre Dame beats Texas, advances in College World Series

Notre Dame is in the winner’s bracket.

The Fighting Irish finished off their first victory in Omaha since 2002 on Friday evening, defeating Texas 7-3.

They will now face Oklahoma i

n the winner’s bracket on Sunday. The winner of that game will move on to the semifinals of the College World Series.

Jared Miller and Carter Putz each homered in Notre Dame’s victory over the Longhorns on Saturday. Putz’s 9th-inning home run put away the game for good.

On the mound, it was John Michael Bertrand who limited Texas to just 3 earned runs across 5.1 i

This is Notre Dame’s first College World Series appearance since 2002 and just its third in program history. It finished 5th in 2002 and 4th in 1957.

First pitch of Notre Dame-Oklahoma is at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday.
