Notre Dame commit Peyton Bowen has been committed to the Fighting Irish since January, but he’s still keeping his options open into the final weeks of the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Bowen told reporters on Thursday night that he will take an unofficial visit to Oregon this weekend for the Ducks’ game against UCLA. He’s also been linked to programs like Texas A&M and Oklahoma on numerous occasions in recent months.

In an interview with On3’s Sam Spiegelman, Bowen gave a rough timeline for when he wants to officially end his recruitment.

“I don’t know when real soon is, but I’m not going to let it rain out until my playoffs,” he told On3. “I’m going to try end it before state.”

Bowen plays for one of the best high school teams in the state of Texas at Guyer High School. His Wildcats are 8-0 on the season. Guyer’s final regular season game is on Nov. 3.

The first round of Texas high school football playoffs are scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 10. That would indicate that Notre Dame should get an answer from Bowen — one way or another — within the next few weeks.

Bowen is the No. 24 player and the No. 2 safety in the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 5 player from the state of Texas.

The Early Signing Period begins in December.
