On Wednesday afternoon, Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer announced he will be moving on to the NFL in 2023.

Shortly after that announcement was made, Notre Dame released an incredible highlight tape of Mayer’s best moments with the Fighting Irish. The video culminates with the declaration that Mayer is the best tight end in program history.

Here’s the video:

Mayer leaves Notre Dame atop the record books. In just 36 games, he managed to collect nearly every all-time receiving record for a tight end in program history.

Across three seasons, Mayer caught 180 passes for 2,099 yards and 18 touchdowns. He cleared the 800-yard benchmark and led the team in receiving in each of the past two seasons.

He also announced Wednesday that he plans to skip the Gator Bowl in order to prepare for the draft. Mayer is expected to be the first tight end off the board in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Notre Dame is set to face South Carolina on Dec. 30.
