Notre Dame picked up a major commitment on the recruiting trail on Saturday afternoon.

Bowen is the No. 58 overall player and the No. 4 safety in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
He is from Denton, Texas. He’s listed at 6-foot, 185 pounds. He’s the type of defensive prospect that Notre Dame has been successfully recruiting since Marcus Freeman took over as defensive coordinator last offseason. That trend has continued into the early weeks of his head coaching tenure.
Bowen is the eighth commitment for Notre Dame in that class, which currently ranks No. 1 nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the first prospect from the state of Texas in this class.
He chose Notre Dame over offers from some of the best programs in the country, including Alabama, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Auburn.
