Notre Dame picked up a commitment from 4-star running back Dylan Edwards on Saturday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish were expecting good news after Edwards decided to announce his college decision so soon after he took a visit to South Bend. The Derby, Kansas, native decommitted from Kansas State earlier this month.

Edwards’ other finalists were Kansas State and Oregon. He also received offers from programs like Oklahoma and Nebraska earlier in his recruitment.

He’s the No. 19 running back in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 2 player from the state of Kansas.

Edwards is known for his speed and could be an early contributor on Notre Dame’s offense. He’s 1 of 2 running backs in this 2023 class for Notre Dame, joining 4-star Jayden Limar.

Notre Dame has now picked up a commitment in 3 consecutive days. The Fighting Irish added linebacker Jaiden Ausberry on Thursday and safety Ben Minich on Friday.

Notre Dame is now up to 22 commitments in the class of 2023 and has extended its lead for the nation’s No. 1 overall class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
