Notre Dame guard Blake Wesley announces intention to enter 2022 NBA Draft
Notre Dame guard Blake Wesley will enter the 2022 NBA Draft, he announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Wesley’s draft stock rose significantly over the course of his freshman season. He wasn’t on the draft radar entering the year, but showed serious potential as a shot creator and scorer in the half court.
It’s unclear if Wesley intends to hire an agent or not, but he did tell ESPN that he has no plans to return to South Bend.
“I plan on staying in the draft,” Wesley told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. “I’m in a great position. I’m ready for the NBA. I’m ready to start my next journey.”

Wesley is still raw as an offensive weapon and wasn’t very efficient overall this season. He averaged 14.4 points per game but shot 40.4 percent from the field and had a true shooting percentage of 49.5 percent.
Wesley also will need to improve as a playmaker. He averaged 2.4 assists per game this season, but also turned it over 2.2 times per contest. Improving in this area over the course of the pre-draft process will be key for his draft stock.
The NBA Draft is on June 23.
