Notre Dame lands 1 player on Pro Football Focus’ freshman All-America team

Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison made Pro Football Focus’ freshman All-America team for his performance in  2022.

Morrison emerged as an immediate impact player early on in Notre Dame’s season. He started receiving playing time all the way back in Week 1 against Ohio State and was a starter by the end of the season.

He finished the year with 30 tackles, five interceptions and four pass deflections.

Morrison’s breakout performance came in Notre Dame’s high-profile win over Clemson back in November. He recorded three interceptions in that game, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

That pick-six essentially ended any possibility of a Clemson comeback in that game.

Morrison is expected to be a major part of Notre Dame’s secondary moving forward. Notre Dame’s other starting cornerback spot is expected to be filled by Cam Hart next season. Hart still has two years of eligibility remaining.

Notre Dame will learn its bowl destination on Sunday.
