Notre Dame had 2 offensive players make Pro Football Focus’ All-America team.

Left tackle Joe Alt and tight end Michael Mayer made the cut after turning in excellent 2022 campaigns. Notre Dame joined USC and Ohio State as the only schools on the list with 2 All-Americans.

Alt, who is a sophomore, has been a fixture on Notre Dame’s offensive line. Alt started all 12 games for Notre Dame in 2022 and he helped protect Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne throughout the season. Alt received a 91.7 grade from PFF for his performance this season. In 2022, Alt did not allow a sack and he only allowed his quarterbacks to be pressured 5 times.

For Mayer, he led the country in receptions and touchdowns for tight ends. Mayer finished the season with 67 receptions, 809 receiving yards, and 9 touchdowns. For tight ends, Mayer’s 809 receiving yards ranked No. 2 in the country behind Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid.

Mayer is a top prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft and he had an impact on Notre Dame over the last 3 seasons. Notre Dame will wrap up the season with a bowl game next month.
