Notre Dame lands 2025 commitment from son of Super Bowl winning WR

Notre Dame is off to a scorching start in the 2025 recruiting class, and the Fighting Irish picked up another piece Saturday evening! This time, the commitment comes from the son of a former Super Bowl champion wide receiver.

The player is Elijah Burress, the son of longtime NFL receiver Plaxico Burress. A former Michigan State star, Plaxico spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants for the 2007 NFL season.

Now, Elijah is on his way to Notre Dame with a commitment to Marcus Freeman’s program:

Though unrated by the composite rankings, the younger Burress is listed at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds out of DePaul Catholic in Wayne, New Jersey. 247 Sports rates Burress as a 3-star prospect and the 36th WR in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He also held offers from Duke, Cincinnati, James Madison and Marshall among others.

The addition of Burress brings Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class up to 15 players so far, a group that leads the 247 Sports Team Composite as of Feb. 10. The Irish currently hold pledges from 4 of the top 150 players in the country.

Here’s a look at Burress’ highlights and what he brings to the table via Hudl:
