Notre Dame lands commitment from elite safety transfer Brandon Joseph

Notre Dame picked up a huge commitment from transfer safety Brandon Joseph on Saturday morning.

Joseph spent the last three years at Northwestern and was a first-team All-American as a redshirt freshman in 2020. He’s likely to become an immediate starter for the Fighting Irish.

Here’s Joseph’s announcement:

Joseph reportedly visited South Bend this weekend. He departs Northwestern with 9 interceptions and 6 pass deflections over the past two seasons.

“The Notre Dame brand is as strong as ever, and I plan to follow in the footsteps of Hall of Famers and the great players who have preceded me,” Joseph wrote in-part. “I plan to give the Irish my all and bleed Blue and Gold.”

Joseph replaces All-American safety Kyle Hamilton, who is expected to be a top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Hamilton was one of the best safeties in the country over the past two seasons, but Joseph is a worthy replacement. He’s one of the most talented and accomplished players to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

Hamilton also acknowledged Joseph’s commitment:

Joseph has three years of eligibility remaining.
