Notre Dame is off to a fast start in the transfer portal this offseason.

The Fighting Irish have landed transfer portal commitments in back-to-back days. The most recent addition is former Florida International receiver Kris Mitchell, who announced his commitment on Tuesday afternoon.

Mitchell visited Notre Dame over the weekend and has now secured his spot on the Irish’s 2024 roster.

Mitchell is one of the top-rated transfers in the portal so far. He’s coming off the best season of his collegiate career as he caught 64 passes for 1,118 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2023. He also averaged 17.5 yards per reception.

Notre Dame has a big need at the receiver position this offseason. The Irish have already lost 4 receivers to the portal, including top pass catchers Chris Tyree and Rico Flores Jr. Adding Mitchell will give Notre Dame a potential starter at receiver next season to go along with the Irish’s returners at that position.

Notre Dame is also set to host former Clemson receiver Beaux Collins and ex-Duke quarterback Riley Leonard this week on a visit. It could end up being a huge week for the Fighting Irish on the recruiting trail.
