One of the Pacific Northwest’s very best prospects in the 2024 cycle is narrowing down his recruitment, and Notre Dame is firmly in the mix.

Yelm (Wash.) High linebacker Brayden Platt holds nearly 20 Power Five scholarship offers, but trimmed his list of suitors down to a Top 8 on Tuesday. He has the Fighting Irish included alongside Oregon, USC, UCLA, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Platt is a 4-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the No. 262 overall recruit in the class, the No. 24 linebacker, and the No. 5 recruit from the state of Washington.

There’s a major discrepancy in how he’s viewed, though. Rivals’ evaluators (who factor into the Composite) don’t even have Platt ranked. Meanwhile, the folks at 247Sports have him as a top-100 overall recruit and a top-10 linebacker in the class.

Platt is a two-way workhorse. He was the MaxPreps Player of the Year in the state of Washington after helping Yelm to an unbeaten season and its first state title. As a junior, Platt ran for 1,242 yards and 24 touchdowns and caught 12 passes for 227 yards and another touchdown. He also recorded 69 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception.

He’s an elite thrower with the javelin and a state champion in shot put.

Notre Dame has 9 known commitments in the 2024 class so far. It’s a group that ranks inside the top 10 nationally.
