Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting class keeps getting better and better.

The Fighting Irish picked up another huge commitment on Saturday afternoon, landing 4-star defensive lineman Devan Houstan.

Here’s his announcement:

Houstan is a heavily-recruiting lineman from Hagerstown, Maryland. He’s listed at 6-foot-4.5, 270 pounds prior to the start of his senior season at St. James School.

He’s currently ranked as the No. 26 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also ranked as the No. 6 player from the state of Maryland.

Houston picked Notre Dame over offers from programs like Michigan State, Kentucky, NC State, Tennessee and Penn State, amongst others.

Notre Dame now has 12 commitments in the class of 2023, which remains the nation’s No. 1 class per 247Sports Composite rankings. This is Notre Dame’s 6th commitment since the calendar flipped to 2022.

The Fighting Irish now have 8 commitments on the defensive side of the ball — 4 defensive linemen, 2 linebackers and 2 defensive backs. Houstan is the first player from the state of Maryland to join this class.
