Notre Dame lost a commitment from its 2024 recruiting class on Sunday afternoon.

Brandon Davis-Swain announced that he would be decommitting from the Irish and reopening his recruitment. With a Twitter post, Davis-Swain thanked Notre Dame and announced that after a long conversation with his family, he would be seeking a new football home.

Here’s that announcement:

Notre Dame received a commitment from Davis-Swain back in April of this year. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive lineman is a 4-star recruit, and could have had an immediate impact on the defensive line.

Davis-Swain is ranked as the No. 91 overall player in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 12 defensive lineman in this class.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame is still building an elite 2024 recruiting class. It has six commitments in that cycle already, including one from 4-star pass rusher Owen Wafle. Notre Dame’s class is led by 5-star quarterback CJ Carr. The group ranks No. 3 nationally, per to 247Sports Composite rankings.
