Notre Dame loses commitment from 4-star EDGE in class of 2024
Notre Dame suffered a decommitment from 4-star EDGE rusher Owen Wafle on Wednesday.
Wafle, who had been committed to Notre Dame for over a year, backed off of that pledge after “much consideration and reflection.”

Wafle is a significant loss for Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class. He’s the No. 404 overall player and the No. 30 EDGE in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Wafle is from Princeton, New Jersey. He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 290 pounds.
Prior to his decommitment, Wafle was Notre Dame’s longest-tenured commitment in the class of 2024. That honor now belongs to 4-star quarterback CJ Carr, who committed to Notre Dame in June of 2022.
Overall, the Fighting Irish have 15 commitments in the class of 2024. Notre Dame’s class includes 2 commitments from defensive linemen: 4-star Bryce Young and 3-star Cole Mullins. The group ranks No. 4 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
