Notre Dame offensive lineman Michael Carmody will enter the transfer portal, he announced on Monday.

Carmody initially joined Notre Dame as a 4-star prospect back in the class of 2020. However, he was never able to establish himself as a key member of Notre Dame’s offensive line. He did make two starts for Notre Dame during the 2021 season.

In his announcement, Carmody thanked his teammates and coaches.

“The last four years of my life have been a blessing,” Carmody wrote in-part. “Thank you to the coaches who gave me the opportunity to become a Notre Dame football player and to my teammates for making ND such a special place. It has been an honor to battle with you guys.”

Carmody was the No. 146 overall player and the No. 14 offensive tackle in the country for the class of 2020, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He arrived in South Bend by way of Mars, Pennsylvania.

Carmody will be transferring with two years of eligibility remaining.
