Notre Dame made the top 5 for 5-star receiver prospect Carnell Tate.

Tate announced his finalists on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after completing a visit to South Bend. Here’s his announcement:

Notre Dame will be battling Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State and Alabama for his signature.

Tate is the No. 3 receiver prospect in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 21 overall player in the country.

This weekend was an unofficial visit, but Notre Dame’s presence in Tate’s top five suggests an official visit to South Bend could happen later this cycle.

Notre Dame is off to a huge start in the 2023 recruiting class. It already has 9 commitments this cycle, and the class currently ranks No. 1 in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

The class includes a commitment from 4-star tight end Cooper Flanagan and 4-star running back Sedrick Irvin Jr. Those are Notre Dame’s lone offensive commitments in this class.

There is no timetable for Tate’s commitment.
