Notre Dame is back in the race for a 4-star quarterback in the class of 2023.

The Fighting Irish have made the top-4 for 4-star quarterback prospect Austin Novosad, he told On3’s Sam Spiegelman.

Novosad, who is currently committed to Baylor, is also considering Ohio State and Texas A&M:

Notre Dame offered a scholarship to Novosad earlier this week after its previous quarterback target — Dante Moore — committed elsewhere. He became the 8th quarterback in this cycle to earn a Notre Dame offer.

Novosad is the No. 259 overall player and the No. 13 quarterback in this class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 46 player from the state of Texas.

With Baylor and Texas A&M interested, it could be difficult to get Novosad to leave the Lone Star State. His hometown of Dripping Springs, Texas, is near the Austin area.

Quarterback is still the missing piece for Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 2 nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings. If Novosad opts to go elsewhere, it’s not clear where Notre Dame would turn in this class.

However, it’s worth noting that Notre Dame does have a quarterback commitment in the class of 2024 from 5-star prospect CJ Carr. His presence in Notre Dame’s future plans should take some pressure off to land an elite prospect in 2023.

Novosad has not announced a date for his final decision.
