Notre Dame has moved up to No. 6 in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings.

The Fighting Irish jumped both Michigan State and Oregon, who suffered losses in Week 12. The Spartans were blown out by Ohio State and the Ducks were upended by Utah.

Notre Dame now sits at 10-1 and is on the fringe of the College Football Playoff conversation.

Several teams in front of Notre Dame still have difficult games left to play. No. 1 Georgia and No. 3 Alabama are expected to face off in the SEC Championship Game. No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Michigan will play in Ann Arbor this weekend, with the winner getting a red-hot Wisconsin team in the B1G title game.

And then there’s No. 4 Cincinnati, who gave Notre Dame its only loss of the season. The Bearcats have looked dominant in their last two games, but it’s unclear if the committee will be willing to include a team from the Group of 5.

The Big 12 also isn’t out of the conversation. If the winner of Saturday’s Oklahoma-Oklahoma State matchup also wins the conference title in Arlington, it’s possible a Big 12 representative could leapfrog past the Fighting Irish in the final rankings.

Notre Dame ends its regular season vs. Stanford on Saturday.
